- Earth Explorers weekly program for ages 9-15 through the state park system. Earth Science topics include "Geology: rock ID and collection," "Telling Skies: Cloud Types," "Moon Phases, Craters and Eclipses, oh my!" (before the December eclipse), along with many others.
- Science Olympiad with local homeschool group (She participated last year with her school team and placed first and second in two events!)
- The Human Odyssey: Prehistory Through the Middle Ages (from k12)
- Oxford University Press series The World in Ancient Times
- a gazillion library and internet resources, so many that I hope we get to use most!
French
We'll be using her older sister's French 1 text and workbook, with (hopefully) some audio components purchased through half.com or amazon. I'm grateful that the high school uses an older edition as it makes finding the ancillary bits much easier and less expensive! We won't be starting French until later this fall. I have to get my courage up to try a new language-------German was a loooooooonnnnnnnnngggggggg time ago!
Other fun stuff:
- ballet three times a week, with one performance in October and Nutcracker in December
- Junior Girl Scouts, working on the Bronze Award
- children's choir at church, assuming there will be one this year
- continuing with flute or starting with violin????? I want her to play in an ensemble, not just take lessons. Instrumental music outside of a school is quite expensive...
